Honoring Our Healthcare Heroes: May at Navarro Regional Hospital
5/8/2025
As we welcome the month of May in Corsicana, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on what this time means for those of us here at Navarro Regional Hospital. For our hospital, May is more than just a month - it’s a celebration of the people who form the heart of our purpose and a reminder of the vital role we play in caring for our friends, family, and neighbors throughout Navarro County.
Each year, May brings three meaningful observances: National Nurses Week (May 6–12), National Hospital Week (May 12–18), and National EMS Week (May 19–25). These commemorations give us the opportunity to recognize the exceptional dedication, compassion, and skill of the nurses, hospital staff, and emergency responders who work around the clock keeping our communities safe and healthy.
National Nurses Week gives us a chance to shine a spotlight on the incredible nurses who serve throughout our facilities - from the emergency department to the inpatient units, operating rooms, and beyond. Our nurses are the steady hands and kind hearts at the bedside, and their work often goes far beyond medical care - they’re advocates, educators, and supporters for every patient who walks through our doors. Their commitment to our patients and more so to Corsicana and the surrounding areas is nothing short of inspiring.
During National Hospital Week, we celebrate the entire Navarro Regional team. Whether it’s our Environmental Services Aides keeping patient rooms clean and tidy, Dietary preparing a nourishing meal or the Imaging team completing vital diagnostic tests, every single person plays a critical role in delivering our shared purpose, to help people get well and live healthier lives. Navarro Regional Hospital isn’t just a building—it’s a team of over 300 professionals who call this community home and are proud to serve it. We hope the community will celebrate the start of Hospital Week this year, joining us for a special reception and open house on May 12.
National EMS Week provides a moment to recognize the first responders who serve on the front lines throughout Navarro County. These are the men and women who answer the call - day or night, rain or shine - to deliver life-saving care in the field and ensure patients make it safely to our emergency department. Our close coordination with local EMS agencies, PHI, Corsicana Fire and Rescue, Corsicana Police Department, and Navarro County Sheriff's Office strengthens
our ability to provide timely, effective care when it matters most. At Navarro Regional Hospital, we are honored to serve this community with compassion and
excellence. Whether you were born here, moved here, or just passing through, our team will answer the call to meet your healthcare needs.
To our neighbors and community: thank you for your trust and partnership. To our nurses, staff, and EMS teams: thank you for your unwavering service and commitment. May is your month, and on behalf of myself and our leadership team, I want you to know how deeply appreciated and valued you are.
Warmly,
John Manolakis
