Navarro Regional Hospital Honors Physicians on National Doctors Day on March 30th

National Doctors' Day is an annual day of recognition established by the American Medical Association to “honor the dedication, skill and unwavering commitment of physicians in providing high-quality health care to individuals and communities worldwide.”
Navarro Regional Hospital enthusiastically celebrates Doctors' Day and the men and women who choose to practice here to make for a healthier, safer community. “Physicians have a vital role to play in our communities; we all rely on their skills, education, training and compassion to do the work that they do. We cannot overstate how important they are, and we should never miss an opportunity to let them know how much they are appreciated,” says Navarro Regional Hospital CEO John Manolakis.
Each year the medical staff selects a community non-profit organization to receive a donation from Navarro Regional in honor of Doctors Day. This year, D.E.F.Y. (Dynamic Empowerment for Youth), a locally-founded organization with the mission of empowering youth to defy odds, stereotypes and all negative influences, was chosen.
Barbara Kelley, D.E.F.Y. board president, says, “This donation will help continue our mission of empowering our youth, grades 9th-12th at Corsicana High School to see what’s truly possible for their futures. Through our fall and spring symposiums, we connect them with community leaders for meaningful, one-on-one conversations that help them better understand the education and pathways behind a wide range of careers. We also place a strong emphasis on financial literacy, giving our youth the tools and confidence they need to make informed decisions and build a strong foundation for their future. Many students just need someone to open that door of awareness and encouragement. This support allows us to keep investing in their potential and reminding them that their goals are within reach.”
